So on Sunday, I took a visit down to Gladstone Park, a few miles out of Central London to get some photos. I specifically wanted this park as the person who designed it obviously loved symmetry, creating several paths with rows upon rows of tall plane trees. I got some nice shots but i also wanted to discuss adding effects to them.
Adding effects can instantly be noticed by the viewer for the most part, however many people adds effects like “drama” to spice up a relatively bland shot. Other methods are the common increase in saturation and ambiance levels. But does it really add to the shot? In my opinion, no. Unless it is slight additions like a small increase in brightness or contrast. Many of my shots are of nature and i feel one should view it without the addition of other factors.
However sometimes photography of buildings can really benefit from a decrease in saturation and increase in contrast, creating a dystopian world. Provided below is the basic photo and then some with their edits.
