We stayed in a small bed and breakfast in Barbados and in the garden, there was this magnificent mahogany tree. I’ve never seen such strange, beautiful bark all layered on top of each other like jenga.

All was peaceful as the morning sun shone through the canopy and the birds were whistling away. That was until the dreaded kite started up again. Some child living about 200 metres away down the hill had obviously gotten a kite for Christmas. His excitement was so much so that, instead of bringing down the kite from up above, he would just leave it there and attach the string to a tree branch.
He must’ve had an industrial type of kite because, boy, it released a horrific drone like and old plane’s propellers whenever there was a gust of wind. The wind was frequent at such an altitude and so although this photo looks like it was perfectly peaceful, the atmosphere was constantly broken by an intermittent drone from the dreaded kite. What made it worse is that you never knew when it would start up again! It could be just before you slept, or whilst having breakfast, you name it.
Have you had any bad experiences with kites? I always imagined as a child that I could accidentally fly away as I was too light!
